On thursday April 14th a few branch members visited RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire for a tour of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF). Amongst those who made the trip was Norman Gregory, a veteran of Bomber Command in WWII, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday.
During the visit Norman was able to climb aboard the BBMF Lancaster bomber, the first time he had been aboard one since bailing out of his aircraft over Germany in May 1944 after being shot down. Many thanks to OC BBMF, Sqn Ldr Mark Sugden for making this happen and to Flt Lt Seb Davey for escorting Norman inside the Lanc.
Norman also had time to talk to a few other groups, including an Air Cadet squadron, about his experiences.
A great day for all.
