On Sunday 29th of October twenty branch members took a short drive over to Thorpe Abbotts to visit the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum. After arriving we were guided to the top of the old airfield control tower for a brief overview of the history of the "Bloody Hundredth" Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force during WW2.
After that we went off to explore the many excellent, and some very personal, exhibits around the site.
After an hour or so exploring this excellent museum we adjourned to the museum cafe and shop for a warming cuppa and cakes.
A great way to spend a few hours on an Sunday in October before the museum shuts up for the winter and all the hard work in the background begins before what could be a busy 2024 following the release of the Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks mini series Masters of the Air, about the Bloody Hundredth, in January.
Thanks again to Dave for addition photos.
